About Me:
My journey began in 1993 as a Teacher Assistant in a special needs classroom—a role that shaped my heart and sparked my passion for education. I taught all levels as a substitute teacher for over 20 years, from Pre-K to 12th grade. I even opened my heart and home to nine incredible children through foster care—an experience that filled my life with love and purpose.
I served five years as a Pre-K Lead Teacher with the Georgia Lottery-funded program while also tutoring students online in grades K–8. My teaching philosophy has always been grounded in compassion, creativity, and a belief that every child learns differently—and that’s what SmartieKats is all about.
🎨 I love art, 🎶 music, and playing the piano. I have a soft spot for horror films, music, and a great book. When I’m not teaching, I’m usually spending time with my two cats and two dogs—my furry family members. I’ve been happily married for 39 years, and I’m a proud mom of four (two boys, two girls), three of whom serve in the military and one environmentalist, and grandma to eight wonderful grandchildren.
My academic background includes:

Smartiekats Preschool Online – DECAL Exemption Notice
Smartiekats Preschool Online has been exempted from Georgia DECAL child care licensing under the EX-4 Short-Term Care designation. The program provides online educational instruction only for children ages 3–5 (Pre-K live, Kaplan curriculum aligned using the GELDS) and optional enrichment for ages 3–12. Parents or guardians are responsible for supervising their children during all live and on-demand sessions.

Each child attends one 30-minute live session per day, with on-demand content available year-round.

Yes. The monthly tuition price is a reflection of the yearly tuition divided into convenient monthly payments for parents, so the monthly fee remains the same, regardless of holidays. There are no refunds for registration,or refunds for prorated months.

Most lessons are self-contained and hands-on. Occasionally, printable templates or household items may be used, but we keep it simple and easy to manage.
